Web Development Glossary for Small Businesses
Web development glossary for online marketing business entrepreneurs
This web development glossary for small business entrepreneurs is a mix of terms used in business development, web design, graphic design, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, online marketing, and copy writing terms. This is a limited glossary targeting only those terms which are most often in need of a little explanation.
301 Redirect: A 301 redirect automatically opens a new web page address in a web browser window without the visitor clicking any where to go to the new page. Search engines tend to view 301s negatively due to its "false advertising" use by spam websites. Typically these sites operate multiple redirect websites to shanghai people to their sales sites.
401 Error: A 401 error message denies access to a server area that needs certain permissions to access that web page or web directory.
404 Error: - A 404 error pops up when a web page is not found, usually indicating it no longer exists or has been taken offline temporarily for maintenance. Government web sites seem to spawn these messages right after of change of administration - maybe its the public works project of the Information Age.
1099: - The IRS form that says you figured out how to pay working expenses before paying taxes on income.
